24th Annual Symposium on Advanced
Wound Care and Wound Healing Society Meeting, April 14-17, 2011, Dallas, Texas
Chronic wounds such as venous leg ulcers (VLUs) and diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs)
represent a substantial healthcare burden, accounting for billions of dollars in
treatment costs annually. A growing body of research on the mechanisms underlying
chronic wound development and wound healing, along with the development of biological
and bioengineered therapies, has rapidly advanced the treatment of chronic wounds such
as VLUs and DFUs. Recent developments in wound care were discussed by leading experts
in the field of wound care in interviews conducted at the 24th Annual Symposium on
Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) and Wound Healing Society (WHS) meeting held April 14-17,
2011, in Dallas, Texas.
